I am a maker more than an artist or crafts person. I have also collected lots of ‘stuff’ that I find interesting and I hope others will too!
My history is one of creating and making using a variety of materials and mediums. I have been making and collecting things since I was a child. I grew up around folks that loved to craft so I always thought that is what everyone does. My parents were very good at utilizing what was around us to make our lives and our house a home. Needless to say, it has been such a gift to exposed to how to bake, cook, sew, collage, paint, … you name it. These skills have enabled me to think that I can learn and/or attempt any hands-on task that I am interested in using for my work.
At present I’m focusing a lot and using non-traditional items and up cycling them to make items that are both functional and visually appealing. But if I want to be truly transparent my work is a hodge podge of focus, materials, and outcomes.
Those that purchased my work in the past know me mostly as a person who makes and creates jewelry out of conventional and non-conventional materials. I also up cycle or recycle glass jars, rocks, and aluminum drink cans to make earrings, lanterns, decorations, bookmarks and cards.
The creation of this website has been one of the hardest things I’ve done in a long time. With this said all new ventures start with one step or in my case many steps and stumbles! When I think of the trajectory of my creative life I realize I have been weaving, bobbing and at times even moving forward to where I am now both creatively and production wise. It is not an overstatement to say this has not been a smooth and uneventful journey!
The creation of this website is way to bring all my interests together and hopefully share with as many people as possible. It is clearly evident to me that I have avoided putting my work and myself out there on the world wide web but now I am ready to build and nurture a new venue for my work!
It has like so many things that are worth doing have not been a solo task. I have had a TON of support from Mara Hogan. In fact, she has put together the bones of this website. I also want to thank my niece Michelle Mitchell who originally offered to assist me in this venture. Finally like a true northern star that she has been in my life I need to thank my Bonnie who has gently pushed me along to get to this point. Like so many things that are worth doing it is not done in a vacuum and I have much to be grateful for.
So, I thank you so much for coming for a visit. May your time here be one that creates joy and excitement in you and maybe want to purchase something I have created or collected.
